What is VAE?

Recognized by the French Employment Code, the Validation des Acquis de l’Expérience (VAE) scheme enables you to enhance your professional, voluntary or trade union experience by obtaining a professional certification registered with the RNCP. This recognition differs from a traditional end-of-training examination.

Who can benefit from VAE?

VAE (Validation des Acquis de l’Expérience) is open to all: salaried employees (on fixed-term or permanent contracts, temporary workers, etc.), non-salaried workers, jobseekers, volunteers and public sector employees, whatever their level of qualification or the diplomas, titles or certifications they have already obtained.

The only requirement: proof of at least one year’s experience, whether salaried, self-employed or voluntary, on a continuous or discontinuous basis, related to the content of the targeted RNCP qualification.

Which certifications are eligible for VAE?

VAE offers the possibility of obtaining, in whole or in part :

  • Professional certification issued by a training organization or consular chamber

How does VAE work?

1 – Information, orientation, advice

Contact by e-mail or telephone with the VAE referent to discuss the project for validation of prior learning. This stage identifies the possible titles to be validated, and provides information on the VAE procedure and the financing options available.

2 – Admissibility study

Once the candidate’s choice has been confirmed, the VAE advisor submits the admissibility file. The aim of this stage is to determine whether the skills acquired by the candidate in the course of his or her experience are potentially in line with those attested by the RNCP title in question. The file, completed and accompanied by the necessary supporting documents, is examined by the VAE referent and the title’s pedagogical manager. The acceptance decision is notified within two months of receipt of the complete application.

3 – Assistance with writing booklet 2

In the event of positive admissibility, we begin drafting the Livret 2. This document enables the candidate to describe and analyze the skills and knowledge acquired in the course of his/her professional and/or personal career, in relation to the skills repository of the qualification in question, while providing the necessary proof. Individual and/or group coaching can be offered to help candidates better understand the reference framework, reflect on their career path and structure the relevant elements to be included in the booklet.

4 – Jury review

Once the Livret 2 has been written and submitted, a VAE jury is convened. In accordance with the title’s RNCP sheet, the jury is made up of professionals. The oral presentation is an opportunity to supplement the written file by discussing and arguing the candidate’s experiences, in order to assess his or her skills in relation to the target reference framework.

The VAE procedure and support are provided by our Sup Career school, which specializes in continuing education.
